The Constitution Limits the Power of the Federal Government


THE PURPOSE OF THE CONSTITUTION WAS TO UNITE THE 13 COLONIES AND PROVIDE PROTECTION OF THE PEOPLE AS A WHOLE.  THE FOUNDERS RECOGNIZED THE DANGERS OF AN ALL-POWERFUL CENTRAL GOVERNMENT AND THAT'S WHY THE 10 AMENDMENTS WERE ADDED!  THE FIRST TEN AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION WERE INTENDED TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE INDIVIDUAL STATES FROM THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT.
